AI notice

Version 2026-10-27

LUNA uses artificial intelligence. This page explains where, what it can and cannot do, and how people stay in control.

What LUNA’s AI is for

LUNA is a study aid. Its AI helps students practise and helps teachers prepare material and see where students struggle. It is not meant to decide admission to a school or course, a final grade, a certificate, or whether someone cheated in an exam, and it must not be used for that on its own.

Where AI is used

  • Making quizzes, flashcards, summaries, problem sets, level tests and study plans from your material.
  • Reading uploaded files (including scans and formulas).
  • Grading written answers and looking at photos of your working, and suggesting what to study next.
  • Answering questions you ask LUNA in chat.

Everything generated is marked

Content made by AI is generated automatically and can contain mistakes. Check important information against your teacher or textbook.

People stay in control

  • AI feedback is a suggestion: it can be wrong, and your teacher decides. Scores, feedback, mastery and “why you got it wrong” are guidance for study. They are not a final grade, a certification or a decision about you. In the teacher’s Grades, a score with AI marks nobody has checked shows as pending until the teacher confirms or changes each one.
  • Teachers see how each answer was marked and decide what counts for school. A student who disagrees with a mark can press “Ask my teacher to review this mark” under any question: the teacher, who is linked to the student in LUNA, then confirms or changes it, and the score follows. Parents can see these reviews but not change them. You can also write to us.
  • LUNA does not use AI to make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on a person.

Your data and AI providers

To do this, the text, images and questions needed for a task are sent to AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic and, for formulas in images, Mathpix) under contracts that limit use to providing the service. We ask them not to keep it or train on it. We send only what the task needs, not your name or email. For accounts of under-18s we use the strictest privacy settings available and never use their content to train models.

Records we keep

Each AI mark is stored with the AI model that made it and the time, next to the answer it marked. When a teacher confirms or changes a mark, we keep who did it, when and the result. This lets a teacher, a parent or we ourselves check later how a score came about.

Limits

AI can misread handwriting, miss context, be biased or be wrong. If something looks off, tell your teacher.

For teachers

  • What it does: LUNA's AI makes study material from the files you choose, suggests marks and feedback for written answers, and suggests what to study next.
  • Where it goes wrong: it can misread handwriting or formulas, miss the context of your class, be too strict or too generous, and state wrong facts with confidence. Read what it makes before you hand it out.
  • Marks: in Grades, a score with AI marks nobody checked shows as pending. Press “Check” to confirm or change each answer. Check marks before a score counts for school, and when a student asks for a review.
  • Don't use it to decide on its own about admission, a final grade, a certificate or exam cheating. LUNA is a study aid, not a grader.
  • Data: upload only material you may use, and no health, family or other private details about students. Names and emails are not sent to the AI providers.
  • Tell your students that LUNA uses AI and that its marks are suggestions. If something looks wrong or unfair, tell us.
